University Ambulance Service will respond to medical emergencies
on campus
24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What?
University
Health Services (UHS) specializes in outpatient student
health for students at the University Park Campus of
Penn State University. UHS Clinical Services offers evaluation
and treatment of medically urgent (acute) problems, ongoing (chronic)
health problems, and women's health issues and problems. Preventive
health care, as well as patient education is also provided.

The UHS University Ambulance
Service responds to life-threatening medical emergencies on
campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; dial 911.
The UHS Telephone Advice Nurse Service
is also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to answer health
questions from Penn State students and help them decide if they
need immediate medical care, a clinic appointment or self-care.

A wide variety of health education
and promotion programs are offered through UHS' Health Promotion and Wellness department.

Who?
Who receives the services?
Penn State students who are registered for the current
semester and spouses who are covered by one of the Penn
State Student Insurance Plans are eligible for services. For more

Who gives the services?
Students receive services from an experienced and caring UHS staff.
* Clinical staff: includes Board-certified physicians, physician
assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical
nurses, and medical assistants. You can learn more about our clinicians

* Ancillary staff: includes lab technologists,
x-ray technologists, physical
therapists and physical therapist assistants, pharmacists
and pharmacy technicians, emergency medical technicians, and support
staff from all of these departments;
* Health education staff: includes community
health educators who have extensive training in health issues
pertaining to today's college students;
* Other support staff: includes staff from administration,
billing office, facilities, finance
and patient services, health education, health
information management (medical records), information systems,
insurance, and quality
assurance.

When?
The hours of service are:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday during fall and spring semester for urgent health concerns only: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (During the summer, UHS is open on weekdays only.)
When UHS is closed, two important health services are still available:
* University Ambulance Service for medical emergencies on campus;

Where?
UHS is conveniently located adjacent to the Eisenhower Parking Deck and the Bank of America Career Services Building off Bigler Road. The Campus Loop stops on Bigler just south of the Student Health Center.

How much?
UHS charges students a discounted rate for medical care
and ancillary services. The discounted rate is relatively low compared
to private medical services. Some services through the Office
of Health Promotion and Wellness, such as HIV Testing/Counseling
and the Nutrition Clinic, are offered free. Current Fee Schedule
These fees cover the clinician services and many of the supplies
and procedures performed at UHS. However, there are additional
charges for laboratory tests, X-rays, physical therapy treatment,
pharmacy, some procedures, and ambulance service. For more information,
