TELEPHONE ADVICE NURSE
There is good news for Penn State students who have an urgent medical
problem when University Health Services is closed. You now have
access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to the expanded UHS Telephone
Advice Nurse program. Experienced advice nurses can help you figure
out the best course of action: do you need immediate medical care,
an appointment the next day, or will self-care help you?
Important Note: This new after-hours service is for
urgent problems. If you have a routine or minor health
concern, you should continue to call the UHS Advice Nurse during
office hours.
Emergency Care
If you experience a life-threatening medical emergency, call 911.
If you need immediate medical care for an urgent medical problem
that is not a life-threatening emergency requiring an ambulance
when UHS is closed, emergency services are available at Mount
Nittany Medical Center, a 200 bed acute care facility with 176
physicians in 42 specialties, located 2 miles from campus on Park
Avenue. Please note: all hospital emergency room and inpatient fees
are the patient's responsibility.
