Emergency Contraceptive Pills
(The "Morning After Pill")
Counseling and treatment are available for women who are concerned about a possible pregnancy due to unprotected intercourse, a condom accident, or sexual assault. Emergency Contraceptive Pills (Plan B), commonly called “Morning After Pills”, are effective up to 120 hours after the unprotected intercourse incident and are now available over-the-counter for women 18 years of age or older. Photo proof of age is required at all pharmacies, including the UHS Pharmacy when purchasing Plan B.
For women under 18 years of age, getting the ECP at UHS requires a brief health history interview by a UHS nurse. This interview can be conducted either in person or over the phone. Call (814) 863-0774 and ask to speak to a nurse.
Effectiveness of the ECP decreases the longer you wait to take it, so don’t delay if interested.
