Get Geared Up for On-Campus Interviewing

We anticipate close to 1,000 employer visits for the 2008-2009 recruiting season. There will be ample opportunities for students to interview with employers from a wide variety of fields for full-time positions after graduation as well as a few internship opportunities for undergrads.

Who is On-Campus Interviewing for?
On-Campus Interviewing is primarily for undergraduate or graduate students seeking full-time employment after graduation.

Most positions offered through this service are in business, industry, or government and are for students/alumni with technical or business backgrounds. Students/Alumni with backgrounds or interests in other areas should not rule out on-campus interviewing, but should be advised that the opportunities will be limited. You should consider on-campus interviewing as only one method of seeking employment. For more information on job search strategies, we recommend that you speak with a counselor at Career Services office on your campus.

But I am looking for an internship…
Students seeking INTERNSHIPS or CO-OPS in Engineering, Business, IST, and Science must register with those offices.

  • Engineering Co-op/Internship -- 205 Hammond Bldg -- 863-1032
  • Business Internship -- 114 Business Bldg -- 863-6161
  • IST Internship -- 102 Information Sciences & Technology Bldg -- 865-4013
  • Science Co-op -- 108 Whitmore Lab-- 865-5000

Career Services’ On-Campus Interviewing posts only those internships for which any other major can apply (i.e. LA, HHD, ED, etc.)

Do I need to register for On-Campus Interviewing to attend the Career Days?
Many companies attending the career days conduct interviews sometime after the event, through the regular on-campus interviewing system. If you hope to meet with those companies interviewing later through on-campus interviewing, you should register with OCI before, during, or shortly after the career days. Scheduling for these companies' interviews will take place through OCI; if you are not registered, you will not receive notification of your selection, nor be able to schedule an interview time.

Are there opportunities from other Penn State locations?
This on-campus interviewing program offers interviews at University Park, Penn State Harrisburg, Penn State Erie - the Behrend College , Penn State Berks, and Penn State Altoona. Students/Alumni at other campuses must be willing to travel to those campuses for scheduled interviews. Directions to other campuses

How much does it cost?
Registration fees are minimal. For Current Students the registration fee is $15.00 and will be billed to their student account the day that their account is created. For Alumni the fee is $40.00.

How is this different than the job posting systems available to me?
The employers participating in OCI are targeting Penn State to identify candidates and are coming to campus to conduct their interviews. NOTE: There are jobs posted in the Nittany Lion Recruiting system for employers targeting but not coming to campus. Other national job search databases can be a good source of jobs as well, but you are sure that the ones participating in Nittany Lion Recruiting want to hire Penn Staters.

How do I register for On Campus Interviewing?
You are REQUIRED to register with Career Services' On-Campus Interviewing service (OCI) for all on-campus interviews. Registration is quick and easy.
