What We Do

Working with more than 200 non-profit organizations, SLC enables broad exposure to community needs through a variety of service projects.

Each Coordinator is dedicated to a specific population of interest and works with agencies in these categories to provide a more personal approach to serving the community. The service projects fall into the following areas:

  • Adults with Special Needs
  • Animals
  • Arts and Culture
  • Environment/Outdoor
  • Health
  • Hunger and Homelessness
  • Senior Citizens
  • Youth/Children

SLC also provides individual consultations for Penn State students interested in volunteering. Through one-on-one interaction, SLC can best assess students’ reason(s) for getting involved, their area(s) of interest, and any logistical concerns. These intakes last approximately
30 minutes.

To schedule an intake with a Service Learning Coordinator, please email Brian Petrosky (bjp157@sa.psu.edu). Be sure to include your name, phone number, and the best time to reach you. A representative from the Center for Student Engagement will then contact you to schedule and confirm the day and time.
