Shhh... a Debate on Don't Ask Don't Tell

OutLaw, Penn State Dickinson School of Law's LGBTQA law student organization, is partnering with the Penn State Federalist Society to present a debate on the military's ban on homosexual servicemembers serving openly, which is often referred to as the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. OutLaw is hosting Lt. Sue Fulton, a representative from Knights Out (www.knightsout.org), and the Federalist Society (www.fed-soc.org) is bringing Ret. Maj. Gen. Hugh Overholt, to debate various viewpoints regarding LGBT members of the military serving openly.

The Graduate Student Association is hosting a pre-debate reception in the Katz Atrium starting at 6pm.

At the annual Penn State National Coming Out Week Rally, four speakers from all different walks of life will speak about this year’s theme, "It's OK to Bee...".  The Vice President of Student Affairs, Damon Sims will address the audinece.  You can also hear a member of this year's keynote cast, Wolfgang Busch, Produce of How Do I Look speak to the crowd.

The entire Penn State community is encouraged to join us on the patio of Old Main in support of LGBTQA people, and individuals will be welcome to an open mic after the speeches.

We will view the film How Do I Look and have a question and answer session with Wolfgan Busch, the Director and Kevin Omni, the Assistant Director.

Chican@/ Latin@ Poetry Reading

The Chicano/Latino Poetry night will be titled “A night of Poetry: Poetry of Hispanic LGBT Poets”. The night will feature readings of poems written Gloria Anzuldua and Rafael Campo.  There will be group discussions about the poems and a creative drama activity to allow the audience to get up on their feet and embody the poetry.  Following the reading, discussion, and activity will be an open mic session for readings of poems by members of the audience! Come and joins us!
