Bruce Miller and Dean LaVigne Trustee Scholarship

Purpose
The purpose of this scholarship shall be to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University, who have a demonstrated need for funds to meet their necessary college expenses. The scholarship is open to students from ALL Penn State University campuses.

Eligibility
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll at The Pennsylvania State University who have a demonstrated financial need.  The Office of Student Aid is responsible for identifying the eligible pool of students.  First preference shall be given to students from the eligible pool who have demonstrated an interest in advocating for or contributing to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community at Penn State. If no students meet the first preference in a given year, funds will be awarded to any student in the Division of Student Affairs eligibility pool, regardless of preference.

Application Process
One or two letters of recommendation from a faculty or staff member at The Pennsylvania State University are required.

Also required is a letter of interest covering as many of the consideration points you feel apply to your application:

    • Any particular information you would like to share about your financial needs, i.e., extenuating circumstances, etc.  
    • Interest in and concern for the LGBTAQ community at The PennsylvaniaStateUniversity.  
    • Demonstrated efforts toward improving the climate and well-being of LGBTAQ individuals at The Pennsylvania State University
    • Please include any involvement you have had with the LGBTAQ community at The PennsylvaniaStateUniversity. List any groups or clubs you have been involved with and any leadership positions you have held.

Applications are given out once each academic year. Please call 863-1248 or stop by 101 Boucke for the current deadline.
