The Spoken Word Lounge
The Spoken World Lounge is a partnership between The Paul Robeson Cultural Center and the residence life original program, entitled Bed, was created in the spirit of the bed time story-when bedtime was a quiet reflective time and an opportunity to impart wisdom and share values. In 2007, the program was renamed Dream and a Dream Big Slam contest was added to the structure. And in 2008, the program continued to reinvent itself with a new name, “The Stoop,” which reiterates the spirit of neighborhood connectedness and community building. Whatever the format and feel of the program, our lounge always offers a venue for expression of the spoken word and musical art.
The Lunchroom is an opportunity for students to take a afternoon break from their rigorous academic schedules and participate in a fun and socially engaging space inside the Paul Robeson Cultural Center! The Lunchroom features music, visual displays, playing cards, board games, competitions, and FREE food reminiscent of a high school lunch period like potato wedges, sandwiches, and chicken nuggets! The Lunchroom has featured an late 80's -early 90's theme, as well as a millienum edition featuring music and activites from those respective eras. The Lunchroom is a great opportunity for students to engage with their friends, roommates, mentees, student organization members, and study buddies! |
