Core Values

The Paul Robeson Cultural Center holds firm the following values and beliefs. And in doing so, seeks to be a venue where:

Teaching, learning and the intellectual life are central. The individual is respected and affirmed and equality is pursued. Freedom of expression is protected and encouraged and civility is the expected norm. The presentation and preservation of the cultures of the world's peoples is an active, ongoing and appreciated enterprise. Advocacy and support for the acceptance and appreciation of diverse cultures is an imperative. The heritage of the institution and the Paul Robeson Cultural Center is remembered and rituals affirming both the past and the future are widely shared.

Core Beliefs
  • Students are our primary focus.
  • Involvement in educational programs, activities and services complements formal classroom instruction and enriches the collegiate experience.
  • Participation in the various services, activities and programs enhances the student's academic, career and personal development.

By providing a caring, just, safe, nurturing, open and supportive campus environment, we enhance learning and retention. The Paul Robeson Cultural Center is a laboratory where beliefs, values, historic and contemporary issues are dissected, examined, explored, and discussed.

An Educational Mission
