Role of the Nutrition Clinic


ROLE OF THE NUTRITION CLINIC

Individual nutrition counseling is offered to Penn State students. Counseling is also offered to faculty and staff when clinic staffing is available. Services are provided by a registered dietitian or by nutrition students who have received advanced training. They can help you:
 
  • tailor your diet to meet your individual health needs, such as vegetarian meal planning;
        dietary management of high blood pressure, and elevated cholesterol levels;
        and maximize your fitness level
  • identify dangerous dietary habits that may contribute to the development of an
        eating disorders and make appropriate referrals.
  • maintain healthful eating patterns while coping with the pressures of campus life
  • design a nutritious diet within limited financial resources
  • make healthful selections in the dining commons
  • set realistic nutrition goals and ways to meet them
  • Appointments can be scheduled online. Initial consultations last one hour. Follow-up appointments are arranged as needed. Up to six visits per semester are permitted unless otherwise indicated. A clinical referral is not necessary.
