GENERAL INFORMATION

Penn State Student Health Insurance provides a comprehensive student health insurance plan that will provide consistent health insurance coverage for Penn State students studying abroad. The insurance plan is underwritten and marketed by United Healthcare Student Resources and is included as a benefit of all Education Abroad (EA) sponsored programs.

All students are enrolled in this insurance plan as part of their acceptance paperwork and will receive the insurance policy brochure and an ID card with important phone numbers for the policy. The insurance coverage runs from the first day of the first month of their program to the last day of the last month of their program. Regardless of any other insurance coverage they may have, all students will be enrolled in this insurance plan automatically when they participate in a Penn State Education Abroad-sponsored program.

Through participation in the Penn State Education Abroad Insurance Plan, each student is also eligible for global emergency medical assistance services and pre-trip information. Services are accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and are provided by Scholastic Emergency Services (SES), an Assist America partner.
