GENERAL INFORMATION
There are many health care resources available in the State College
area for international students and their families. Several are
listed below; for more information, call the Office for International
Programs at 814-865-7681.
Please note: If you are covered by the Penn State Student Health Insurance Plan or the Graduate Assistants
and Graduate Fellow Health Insurance Plan, you must be seen first at University Health Services, unless it is
an emergency.
Emergencies-Dial 911
If you have a life-threatening emergency, dial 911 for ambulance service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Mount Nittany Medical Center - (814)

When UHS is closed, medically urgent care is available at Mount
Nittany Medical Center, a 200-bed hospital with 185 physicians in
34 specialties, located 2 miles from campus. All hospital emergency
room and inpatient fees are the responsibility of the patient. Click

Pennsylvania Department of Health - (814) 865-0932
The State Department of Health works closely with local health agencies by supporting programs that focus on
nutrition, immunization, and care for women and children. It also licenses and regulates a variety of health

Blue Pages
Look in the center section of your local phone book for the Blue Pages, white pages with blue borders which
include listings of human service organizations, government offices, and other helpful resources.
Yellow Pages
You will find listings for individual area physicians, as well as group practices in the back of the phone
book in the yellow pages under "Physicians."
