UHS PHARMACY OFFERS FREE SHARPS CONTAINERS

Penn State students on University Park campus who have to give themselves injections for diabetes and other medical disorders can get free "Sharps Containers" from the UHS Pharmacy. The red containers are used for the proper disposal of syringes in order to prevent unintentional "sticks" from the needles. Placing syringes in a Sharps Container protects anyone who would otherwise come in contact with improperly disposed syringes in the regular trash, including the students themselves, roommates, friends, and Penn State employees who empty the trash. However, the containers should not be overfilled with syringes sticking out of the top.

Students who use syringes for medical purposes should come to the UHS Pharmacy to pickup two free empty Sharps Containers. When one of the containers is filled to the appropriate level, they should bring it back to the Pharmacy. The UHS staff will give them another empty container, as well as handle the proper disposal of the full container. This service saves the student and others from the risks associated with disposing used syringes.

    INSURANCE

For your convenience, UHS is able to direct bill to some of the major 3rd party prescription cards. The Pharmacy accepts the prescription plans listed below.

You will have to pay the co-pay at the time of service and we will submit claims electronically for you. However, you must have your prescription card (or a complete copy, front and back) with you at the time of service.

If you don't have your card with you, you will either have to charge it to your student account or pay by cash, check, MasterCard or VISA.
