L.E.T. - Leaders Emerging Today

L.E.T. is a 10-week, peer-led, leadership program specifically designed for first-year students at University Park . In addition to learning how to improve their leadership potential, participants will also be introduced to a vast array of resources that will help them achieve personal and academic success during their transition to Penn State .

No prior leadership experience is required to participate; however, L.E.T is limited to 30 participants so a brief application is required. Participants who successfully complete the 10-week program will be awarded a "Certificate of Completion".

Desired Learning Outcomes of the L.E.T. Program
Participants will develop their leadership potential by:

  • Demonstrating an understanding of group dynamics
  • Understanding their personal leadership style
  • Identifying involvement opportunities to pursue
  • Exhibiting active involvement in the campus community
  • Establishing a peer contact network

Testimonials from past participants:

“L.E.T was definitely a great stepping stone to other groups and for students to learn about themselves and others.”

“L.E.T showed me what opportunities are out there, especially for students who do not know what to expect at such a large institution.”

“L.E.T gives you experience on how to be more interactive with people. It is a good catalyst and motivator for getting involved.”

“I would definitely recommend L.E.T because it was a great way to meet new people, learn more about yourself, and establish connections that enable you to learn about ways to get more involved on campus.”

“I would definitely recommend L.E.T to first-year students because this program was a launching point for my campus involvement. In addition, L.E.T provided me with some direction as to how to successfully get involved. The fact that L.E.T is designed for first-year students was great because we were all new to University Park and we able to learn and grow together.”
