Calendar Category Definitions and Approved Editor Roster
Academic Calendar (University-wide)
Definition: This calendar lists the University’s official
academic dates and events.
Approved Editors: Staff as assigned by the University Registrar.
Note: The Academic Calendar will
consist of a calendar containing the official academic dates of
the University – items such as student arrival day, the first
and last day of classes and important administrative dates such
late registration and drop/add deadlines. This calendar will be
edited only by the Registrar’s Office and will mimic this existing calendar: http://www.registrar.psu.edu/calendar/calendar_index.html
The existing calendar currently is hard-coded using HTML and has
embedded links to additional information and to additional URL’s.
This WebEvent calendar should contain this disclaimer:

Art Galleries and Exhibitions (University-wide
for all events)
Definition: The Art Galleries and Exhibitions calendar includes
event listings and exhibitions sponsored by University museums,
galleries, libraries and arts programs at all campuses.
Approved Editors: At University Park -- staff
as assigned by the Palmer Museum, Robeson Gallery, Matson Museum
of Anthropology, the School of Visual Arts, the HUB Gallery, Art
on the Move, the Kern Gallery and the Center for Arts and Crafts.
Staff are also assigned at each of the campus/colleges.
Diversity Calendar (University-wide
for selected events)
Definition: The Diversity Calendar is an aggregated calendar that
includes all University events with a focus on diversity (international,
multicultural, ethnic, etc.). The calendar is coordinated by Victoria
Sanchez in the Office of Educational Equity but includes events
from many programming units at Penn State.
Approved Editors: Staff as assigned by the Office of Educational
Equity, the Center for Women Students, LGBTA Student Resource Center,
Robeson Cultural Center and the Palmer Museum.
Public Educational Programs and Seminars
(University-wide for selected events)
Definition: This calendar lists all educational programs and seminars
that are open to the general public.
Approved Editors: Staff as approved by the
College of Agriculture, Outreach, Continuing Education, Camps and
Conferences and the World Campus
Educational Programs and Seminars for Students
(University Park only)
Definition: This calendar lists all educational programs and seminars
that are intended for Penn State students.
Approved Editors: Staff as approved by Student
Affairs, the Libraries and ITS
Educational Programs and Seminars for Faculty/Staff
(University-wide for selected events)
Definition: This calendar includes educational programs designed
for attendance by faculty and staff.
Approved Editors: Staff as approved by the Office of Human Resources, Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence, Office of
Quality Improvement and Information Technology Services.
Films and Cinema (University Park
only)
Definition: This calendar lists all public showings of films sponsored
by any University Park college or administrative unit.
Approved Editors: Staff as approved by Unions & Student Activities
and the College of Arts and Architecture.
Intercollegiate Athletic Events
(University Park only)
Definition: This calendar lists only intercollegiate athletic event
for University Park teams.
Approved Editors: Staff as assigned by Intercollegiate
Athletics.
Lectures (University Park)
Definition: This calendar lists all on-campus public lectures sponsored
by a University Park college or administrative unit.
Approved Editors: Staff as assigned by college deans or Unions and
Student Activities.
Major Public Events (University-wide
for all events with anticipated attendance of more than 2,400 people)
Definition: This calendar lists all major public events (scheduled
at any Penn State campus) with anticipated attendance of more than
2,400 people.
Approved Editors: Staff as assigned by the
Bryce Jordan Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, the Center for Performing
Arts, the Office of University Relations and the college/campus
CEO’s.
Music Performance Events (University-wide
for selected events)
Definition: This calendar lists live music performance events at
University Park – and selected events from any Penn State
campus that might be expected to draw a regional audience.
Approved Editors: Staff as assigned by the School of Music, Unions
& Student Activities and the college/campus CEO’s.
Recreation and Intramural Sports Events
(University Park only)
Definition: This calendar lists scheduled University Park recreation
and intramural sports events.
Approved Editors: Staff as assigned by Athletics and Unions and
Student Activities.
Student Activity and Club Events
(University Park only)
Definition: This calendar lists public events sponsored by registered
student organizations or the Unions and Student Activities staff
at University Park.
Approved Editors: Staff as assigned by Unions & Student Activities.
Theatre Performances (University-wide
for all events)
Definition: This calendar lists theatre performances sponsored by
any Penn State college or administrative unit at any campus of the
University.
